Founded in Central Missouri
Build My Moment was founded by Steven Farris in mid-Missouri, starting from a personal observation. Steven first set out to help families plan bereavement events, the celebrations of life that follow a loss. He saw firsthand how hard it was for grieving families to find caterers, florists, photographers, and venues on short notice without paying tourist pricing or settling for the first vendor that picked up the phone.
The technology Steven built for that narrow, important problem turned out to solve a much larger one. Every Missouri event, from a quinceañera in Kansas City to a corporate gala in St. Louis, has the same core need: a fast, transparent way to find local vendors who actually show up. So we widened the scope and built Build My Moment for the full Missouri event market.
We grew by hosting vendor signup events across Central Missouri, where local DJs, caterers, photographers, and entertainment companies set up booths and joined the platform in person.
